Christchurch, August 27: New Zealand cricket’s international summer has kicked off with record-breaking ticket sales. Within the first 48 hours of the Cricket Nation members’ pre-sale, 26,000 tickets were sold.
The surge in demand is attributed to India’s tour, scheduled for October, which will feature a multi-format series comprising 12 matches.
Eden Park in Auckland has emerged as the biggest attraction for white-ball matches during the initial sales. There has also been significant demand for tickets at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. This venue, with a capacity of 9,000, is expected to sell out for the first two T20 matches on October 22 and 24, as well as the second and final Test from November 27 to December 1.
Ticket sales are also booming in Wellington, where the third T20 and the second ODI will take place. The first Test is set to begin on November 19 at Basin Reserve.
Glen Crichley, Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer of New Zealand Cricket, stated that the initial response reflects the excitement surrounding India’s tour. “From the start, our message to fans has been to be ready not to miss out. The record sales in the first two days prove that many have listened to us. This is a rare opportunity for New Zealanders to enjoy cricket involving India and watch some of the world’s biggest cricket stars,” he said.
He added, “We have intentionally kept ticket prices the same as last season, with some tickets available for under $30 using our Cricket Nation access code. We are pleased that fans are acting quickly to secure their seats, with 11 days remaining until the general public sale. Our message is clear: don’t miss out.”
Crichley also highlighted the ‘The Four’ and ‘The Six’ group ticket packages, along with venue ticket bundles, which offer additional value for supporters planning to watch multiple matches.
The general public sale will commence on September 7. However, fans can still sign up for Cricket Nation to take advantage of the exclusive pre-sale, which offers a 15% discount on tickets.
The Indian team will play a series of 5 T20s, 5 ODIs, and 2 Tests against New Zealand from October 22 to November 27, 2026.
