Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) has their first-ever big displacement scooter and India’s first-ever Flex Fuel Scooter in the form of ADV 160. The company showcased ADV 160 as part of their new product offensive of around 10 vehicles and the launch happened yesterday, priced at Rs 1.7 lakh (Ex-sh).
While there are a few big displacement scooters in the country with TVS Ntorq 150 and Aprilia SR175, Honda ADV 160 primarily competes with the likes of Yamaha Aerox 155 and Hero Xoom 160 as all three get fancy liquid cooled engines. It has to be noted that only the Honda ADV 160 is Flex Fuel compatible for up to E85 blend fuels (85% Ethanol).
Honda ADV 160 E85
We have already compared ADV 160 with Hero Xoom 160 and Yamaha Aerox 155 in detail before. You can read more about it . Back then, prices were not announced for the Honda ADV 160, which is not the case now. Honda ADV 160 costs Rs 1.7 lakh (Ex-sh) and deliveries will start mid-October 2026.
Hero Xoom 160 pricing has come down from the pre GST 2.0 Rs 1.49 lakh to post GST 2.0 Rs 1.43 lakh (Ex-sh), while Yamaha Aerox 155 costs between Rs 1.46 lakh and Rs 1.5 lakh (Ex-sh). If you were wondering if Honda ADV 160 non E85 version would be more affordable, Honda CB300F E85 cost the same as regular E20 version.
When compared to the Rebel 300 pricing strategy, Honda ADV 160 comes off as a premium priced product. We say this because Rebel 300 offered more features and equipment along with the desirability factor and emerged VFM. ADV 160, in contrast, does not invoke a similar VFM quotient as it costs quite a lot more than its rivals while offering only a few more attributes.
Design & Aesthetics
In terms of design and aesthetics, Xoom 160 looks the cleanest and the most understated in this comparison. With Aerox 155, the wild factor seems to have cranked up and some more with ADV 160. So much so that ADV 160 looks outlandish and grabs attention immediately. It has a strong fascia with split dual chamber LED headlights where LED DRLs extend up, which might not be to everyone’s taste.
Xoom 160 has eagle like aesthetics which seems to be inspired by jet fighters. It has to be noted that only ADV 160 and Xoom 160 have bigger front fairing for the maxi scooter aesthetics. Aerox 155 gets a sporty scooter design, even though all three scooters get a central spine where fuel tank is housed.
Features, Specs, Powertrains
Features like engine start stop, front disc brake, single-channel ABS, telescopic front forks, rear twin shock absorbers, LED lighting, keyless go with smart key and large under-seat storage are common between all three. However, Honda ADV 160 sets itself apart with adjustable windscreen, close to 8L fuel tank, rear disc brake, LED turn indicators, 5-inch TFT instrument cluster with RoadSync and other features.
Honda ADV 160 offers the lowest seat height and it weighs at 133 kg, which is not as low as Aerox 155’s 126 kg and is not as heavy as Xoom 160’s 142 kg kerb weight. Ground clearance is the highest with ADV 160 at 165 mm. Only Honda offers 13-inch rear wheel and it has skinniest tyres in this comparo while Hero offers the widest tyres.
Where powertrains are compared, all three displace similar cc and pack SOHC 4V/cyl head with liquid cooling. Performance is comparable with each other, but only the ADV 160 is Flex Fuel compatible which can accept up to E85 fuels (Ethanol 85%).
