The Indian pair won one of the six slots in the medal race, which is set for August 27, with a time of 7:26.77 in their qualifying race. The qualification follows a historic season in which Ujjwal and Lakshay won India’s first-ever gold medal at a World Rowing Cup event in Lucerne in June. With a time of 6:26.09, the pair defeated crews from Hong Kong and the Netherlands in the Lightweight Men’s Double Sculls final. The Indian pair qualified for the six-boat final after finishing fourth in Heat 2 with a time of 7:26.77. India will now fight for a medal in one of the World Championships’ most competitive events thanks to their performance.
