Television actor Aditi Sharma has addressed the domestic violence case filed against her husband Abhineet Kaushik and his family, saying she needed time to process everything before speaking publicly about the matter. The actor, known for shows such as Apollena – Sapno Ki Unchi Udaan, Rabb Se Hai Dua and Kaleerein, had approached the Mumbai Police with a complaint alleging domestic violence, following which an FIR was registered at Goregaon Police Station on July 31, 2026.
In an interview with Times Now, Aditi explained why she had largely maintained silence since filing the complaint. She said she is a private person and did not feel comfortable discussing the matter until she was emotionally ready.
“Honestly, it takes a lot of time to get out of some situations and decisions,” Aditi said.
The actor also shared a message for people who may find themselves in similar situations, urging them to seek support from their families and find the strength to cope with difficult circumstances.
“I just hope that all the girls and boys who are going through such situations find the strength they need and get the support of their families. And please meditate. I think that really helps,” she added.
The actor further admitted that she is still trying to process what happened and remains unsure about how much she should discuss the case publicly. She also clarified that she did not choose to bring the matter into the public domain and has consciously maintained her silence both before and after filing the complaint.
“I have never said anything about it before, and I haven’t said anything afterwards either, because I am a very private person. That’s why I tend to keep my feelings to myself,” she concluded.
The case was registered on July 31 against her husband, Abhineet Vidyanand Kaushik, her mother-in-law, Urmila Kaushik, 65, and sister-in-law, Kirti Kaushik, 29.
In her complaint, domestic violence, assault, verbal abuse , and misappropriation of her streedhan (bridal jewellery).
The FIR invokes Sections 3(5) (common intention), 316(2) (criminal breach of trust), 352 (intentional insult), and 85 (cruelty by a husband or his relatives against a married woman) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Aditi’s statement
In her statement, Aditi changed two or three days after their wedding. She claimed that he began objecting to her choice of clothes and would pick arguments over minor issues. She further alleged that her husband did not contribute towards household expenses and would instead take money from her.
Aditi has also accused her mother-in-law of keeping her wedding jewellery, including gold chains, rings, a diamond ring, a mangalsutra and bangles. She alleged that despite repeated requests, the jewellery was not returned.
