In July 2026, Kia announced its multi-powertrain strategy for the Indian market. The brand’s upcoming range will include petrol, diesel, electric, hybrid and factory-fitted CNG models. The South Korean automaker confirmed strong hybrid powertrain for the Kia Sorento, Kia Seltos and Kia Carnival are slated to arrive by 2030. A new compact electric SUV will also be part of the brand’s electrification plan, and will be specifically designed and developed for the Indian market.
Kia Carens Clavis CNG – What to Expect?
Kia India is developing factory-fitted CNG models instead of relying on dealer-installed retrofit kits. The Kia Carens Clavis could be the brand’s first model to feature a factory-fitted CNG kit, as a test mule was recently caught on camera on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway. It’s expected to hit roads before 2026 Diwali festive season. Currently, the standard Carens is available with a government approved dealer-fitted CNG kit, sourced from Lovato.
Engine & Mileage
The 2026 Kia Carens Clavis CNG is expected to feature the 115bhp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a CNG kit. Its power and torque figures are still under the wraps. The MPV lineup is also available with the 115bhp, 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 160bhp, turbo petrol and 116bhp diesel engine options.
The regular 1.5L NA petrol engine delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 15.34kmpl. The mileage figure of the Carens Clavis CNG will surely be higher than the standard counterpart.
Premium Pricing?
As far as pricing is concerned, the Kia Carens Clavis CNG is expected to command a premium of around Rs 1 lakh premium over the regular 1.5L NA petrol variant.
