Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington is now all set to play Gilderoy Lockhart in Season 2 of the Harry Potter series. The actor will be , who exited the production recently due to scheduling conflicts.

As reported by Variety, Kit recently voiced Lockhart in Audible’s Harry Potter audiobooks late last year. Notably, the character of Gilderoy Lockhart is central to the plot of the second book, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,
In the series, Lockhart is a well-known yet arrogant wizard popular for his many heroic acts. He becomes the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts, and it’s soon made evident that he isn’t qualified for the job. The character was earlier portrayed by Kenneth Branagh in the 2002 Chamber of Secrets film.
While speaking to the portal about the audiobooks in December, Harington, who claims to be a self-proclaimed Harry Potter nerd, said he fell in love with JK Rowling’s books as a kid and has even reread them many times since.
Talking of agreeing to lend his voice to Lockhart in the audiobooks, Harington, who played , said, “It was a really simple yes, because I love the character. As far as cameos in a series go, you don’t get much more entertaining and fun to do as an actor than Gilderoy Lockhart. It was a no-brainer.”
