Kriti Sanon’s latest Raksha Bandhan advertisement has sparked a debate online over its styling. The actor features in the festive campaign wearing an Indo-Western outfit with a bralette-style blouse and that has caused an uproar on the internet. While the advertisement appears to present a contemporary take on festive fashion, some viewers have questioned whether the look fits the traditional occasion. Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has now joined the conversation, criticising the campaign’s styling and calling the advertisement ‘intentionally creepy’ for featuring the actress in what she called a ‘bikini/underwear.’
Kangana Ranaut Criticises Kriti Sanon’s Rakhi Ad
Kangana took to her Instagram Stories on Monday evening to share her reaction to the advertisement. She began by pointing out the variety of fashion choices available to women today, from Western outfits to traditional Indian attire. She questioned why, with so many options available, the makers chose to style Kriti in what she compared to a bikini or undergarments for a Raksha Bandhan campaign.
Kangana wrote, “Our closets are full of variety of clothes, today’s woman is a global woman.” She then said women have the option to wear cocktail dresses, lehenga choli, jeans, sarees, bikinis etc. The actress then asked, “Why would you tie your brother a rakhi in your bikini/undergarments?” She strongly questioned the styling choices used for the advertisement and concluded by calling the campaign “intentionally creepy.”

Kriti Sanon’s Ad Is Getting Criticsed
Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat actress has also criticised the advertisement. Sharing her opinion on X, she argued that revealing clothing should not automatically be equated with modernity or women’s empowerment. Suzanne wrote, “Less clothes doesn’t mean modern. Less clothes isn’t women empowerment!” She added that the outfit and styling would have been more suitable for a club-themed advertisement rather than one centred around Raksha Bandhan. According to Suzanne, the campaign failed to match the significance of the festival and how revered it is.
In a separate post, she acknowledged having what she described as a liberal German mindset but said she still found the commercial inappropriate. She pointed out that Raksha Bandhan is a festival with deep cultural meaning and felt the advertisement gave it a party-like treatment. According to her, “Wearing less clothes being sold as empowerment was one of the biggest disservices done to women.”
