Global star Priyanka Chopra Jonas remembered her late father, Dr Ashok Chopra, on his 76th birth anniversary, sharing a heartfelt tribute on social media.
Priyanka posted a throwback photograph of her father on August 23 and wished him a “heavenly birthday”.
The actress has often spoken about the close bond she shared with her father, describing him as her biggest champion and loudest cheerleader. She also has a lasting tribute to him in the form of a tattoo on her forearm that reads “Daddy’s lil girl” in his handwriting.
Her father was also honoured during several important moments in Priyanka’s life. Her wedding to Nick Jonas in December 2018 included special tributes to her parents.
Another emotional moment came when Priyanka received an award in Vancouver for her performance in Barfi!. At the time, Dr Ashok Chopra was battling serious health issues. He joined his daughter on stage, and the two jointly accepted the trophy.
Priyanka’s mother, Dr Madhu Chopra, is a physician who served in the Indian Army before later supporting her daughter’s career.
Dr Ashok Chopra died in Mumbai on June 10, 2013, aged 62, following a prolonged battle with cancer.
Earlier this year, on his 13th death anniversary in June, Priyanka shared a series of nostalgic photographs capturing different stages of her life with her father.
Alongside the pictures, she wrote: “You and me dancing together always. Miss u dad. You’re always here.. in every decision and every moment of life. Love you.”
