Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt-backed production “Don’t Be Shy” will premiere worldwide on Prime Video on September 25, bringing a new young-adult romantic comedy to audiences in India and more than 240 countries and territories.
Produced under Eternal Sunshine Productions, the film will be available in Hindi with English subtitles. Written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji, it features newcomers Aarushi Bajaj, Ansh Duggal, Bianca Arora and Piyush Khati in key roles.
Kunaal Roy Kapur, Anurag Basu, Neha Dhupia and Anju Alva Naik are also part of the supporting cast.
Co-produced by Grishma Shah and Vikesh Bhutani, “Don’t Be Shy” explores friendship, young love, heartbreak and dreams while following the complicated process of navigating young adulthood and discovering one’s identity.
Calling the project special to them, Alia and Shaheen Bhatt said in a joint statement that the film captures the experiences that shape young people, including friendships, first loves, heartbreak and the gradual process of understanding oneself.
The sisters also praised the film’s young cast, describing their energy, vulnerability and chemistry as central to bringing the characters to life.
Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals, Prime Video (SVOD) and Amazon MGM Studios, India, said the film introduces four new actors who bring freshness and authenticity to their roles.
“Don’t Be Shy” is led by Mukerji and shaped by the creative vision of Alia and Shaheen Bhatt. According to the makers, the film offers a heartfelt and entertaining take on friendship, love and the often unpredictable journey of growing up.
