Tanushree Dutta questions the meaning of ‘veteran’
Tanushree began by explaining how her perspective towards older actors had changed. She recalled initially believing that an ageing actor might simply need support because they were no longer receiving enough work. On her Instagram, she wrote, “Mujhe bhi yehi laga that ki aged actor hai, koi kaam nahi de raha, help kar deti hoon. But no, Bollywood mein “veteran” ka matlab hai shatir-dimag manjha hua khiladi jo ghat ghat ka paani peekar saari chaalbaazi seekh chuka hai, jissko saari media and public manipulation aati hai.
The actress appeared to suggest that years spent in the film industry can also mean years of learning how to deal with people and situations. Her comments were less about age itself and more about the behaviour and intentions she believes can sometimes exist behind the label of an experienced industry personality.
Tanushree says character matters more than age
Tanushree also shared her belief that people should be assessed through their character rather than simply through their age or professional experience. Her post suggested that being older or having spent many years in Bollywood should not automatically guarantee respect.
The actress further claimed that some senior members of the industry can be hostile towards younger and privileged people. She did not name any actor or provide details about a particular incident but used strong language while describing the behaviour she was referring to.
Tanushree makes a strong claim about young talent
In the second part of her message Tanushree wrote about what she described as negative attitudes towards younger people. “Some of these very evil and negative people with very dark and nefarious intentions towards youngsters are in the category of veteran. They hate young privilaged people and will do anything to destroy them,” she added.
Her comments have attracted attention because they question the conventional image of seniority within Bollywood. While experienced actors are often respected for their long careers the actress suggested that experience alone should not be treated as proof of good character.

Despite the sharp tone of her message Tanushree did not reveal who she was referring to.
