Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide tipped to arrive with lighter design, bigger battery and faster charging

Samsung is now all set to expand its Z series in the global market next month. This year, we may get to see Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8 and possibly, a new variant called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide.

As per the reports, the device will be a direct rival to Apple’s upcoming foldable, the iPhone Ultra. While the details are not confirmed yet, the leaks have revealed some details about the upcoming device. From specs to design and possible price, here is everything we know so far.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide design

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide may feature an ultra-thin design with a balanced 4:3 aspect ratio, measuring under 10mm when folded and around 4.5mm when unfolded. It may also offer new hinge and display technology for creaseless display. According to recent leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide could weigh just 201 grams, making it lighter than several flagship smartphones currently available in the market.

 

 

 

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide launch date and price (expected)

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide alongside the rest of its foldable portfolio at its next Galaxy Unpacked event, which is currently rumoured to take place on July 22, 2026.

As per the leaks, the foldable may start at around $1,999 globally. In India, the base variant may cost Rs 1,89,999, while higher storage variant may cross the Rs 2 lakh mark.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is expected to feature a new wider aspect ratio that differs from Samsung’s current Fold lineup. Reports suggest it could offer a 7.8-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X inner display paired with a 5.4-inch cover screen. The wider 4:3-style layout is said to improve multitasking, video viewing and reading experiences.

Under the hood, Samsung may use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset coupled with up to 16GB RAM and storage options reaching 1TB. The device is also expected to ship with Android 16-based One UI 9 and receive Samsung’s extended software support policy.

The foldable is tipped to house a 4,800mAh to 5,000mAh battery, a notable increase over previous generations. More importantly, Samsung could finally upgrade charging speeds to 45W wired charging, replacing the 25W solution used on earlier Fold models.

For photography, the phone is expected to include a 50MP primary sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. Some reports claim Samsung could remove the dedicated telephoto lens entirely in favour of digital zoom processing. Dual 10MP selfie cameras, including an under-display sensor on the main screen, are also expected.
