Kareena Kapoor, Dhanush In Talks For Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Mythological Jungle Adventure, Confirms S Mithran

Kareena Kapoor and Dhanush are veterans of Bollywood and Kollywood. Rumours were rife that they were in talks with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for a mythological jungle adventure. S Mithran was reportedly the director. Now, in a recent interview, Mithran has confirmed being in talks with Kareena and Dhanush. While he did not reveal further details, the director hoped the discussion would lead to something good. Kareena and Dhanush’s teams are yet to react to the development. If the talks are successful, the actors will be working with Bhansali for the first time.

In an interview with Cinema Vikatan, Mithran said, “Talks are underway; we are looking at the dates for confirmation. Hopefully, something good will come out of it.”

 and Dhanush’s film is reportedly in the writing stage. According to Bollywood Hungama, the script has undergone multiple rewrites before being finalised. A source told the portal that the pre-production is expected to begin in November 2026. The principal photography is planned for January 2027.

Dhanush was seen in Kara earlier this year. His upcoming films are Om: Chapter 1 – Uthiram The Blood Wood and D56. While the mythological jungle adventure could mark Kareena’s first pan-India film, he has acted in multiple Hindi films such as Raanjhanaa, Shamitabh, Atrangi Re and Tere Ishk Mein.

Kareena was rumoured to play Yash’s sister in Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-Ups. However, no official confirmation came from her team and the film’s makers. Now, the actress will be seen in Meghna Gulzar’s Daayra with Prithviraj Sukumaran. The movie releases on September 18.

Mithran has directed films like Irumbu Thirai (2018), Hero (2019), and Sardar (2022). Once finalised, Kareena and  ‘s film would mark his Bollywood directorial debut.

Kareena and Sanjay Leela Bhansali never worked together after their major rift in the 2000s. She had done a screen test for the role of Paro in Devdas. However, Aishwarya Rai was chosen for the part. In the following interviews, Kareena said what Bhansali did to her was wrong, considering she was new to the industry. The filmmaker further clarified that he communicated to Kareena that Aishwarya was a better choice for Paro. Sometime later, the actress ‘lashed out’ in the media. It seems they have sorted their creative differences.
