Yash‘s Toxic has cleared the censor test ahead of its theatrical release with an A certificate and no cuts. The decision has caught attention because the film is packed with violent sequences and mature themes.
Starring Yash alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara and Huma Qureshi, the Geetu Mohandas directorial is expected to be one of the more intense big-screen releases this year. While the certification means the film is restricted to adult audiences, the absence of cuts has become a talking point online. Social media users have been quick to compare the decision with how other films featuring violence and intimate content have been treated.
Toxic gets A certificate with no cuts
Toxic has been cleared for release with a runtime of 3 hours and 14 minutes. The CBFC has reportedly asked the makers to make only two minor changes involving the muting or replacement of certain words and phrases in the Kannada version. Corresponding changes have also been made in the English subtitles. The film will additionally carry the required anti-smoking and anti-drinking warnings.
Apart from these modifications, no scenes have been removed from Toxic. The A certificate indicates that the film is meant strictly for adult viewers. The certification is particularly notable given the film’s violent tone and its mature subject matter.
