Adelegation from the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) on Thursday conducted a detailed inspection of the Salt Lake Stadium.
The delegation spent more than two hours assessing the facilities and preparations for India’s biggest-ever football fixture against Brazil slated for October 3.
The delegation was led by Sergio Dimas de Oliveira, general supervisor of men’s national teams.
State sports minister Indranil Khan had a meeting with the Brazilians.
India’s national team director Subrata Paul and IFA secretary Anirban Dutta were present when the delegates took a round of the Salt Lake Stadium.
The Salt Lake Stadium pitch and the turf at the training grounds raised some concerns from Brazilian delegates. The stadium pitch is not in good shape because of the pounding it has taken during the ongoing Durand Cup.
The stadium hosted the first semi-final of the tournament on Wednesday and the final will be played on Sunday.
The Brazilians have been told that the pitch will be ready before the October 3 match and that should not be a cause for concern for their national team.
“We had a meeting with them, and after having a look at the infrastructure and preparations we have made, they are really positive,” sports minister Khan told reporters later.
“All preparations needed for the match are being made at the moment and have already started,” he added.
Khan informed that a tentative schedule for completing the required work has also been presented to the Brazilian officials.
