The Tata Safari EV is set to go on sale in India during 2026 Diwali season, while the Tata Scarlet sub-4 metre rugged SUV is expected to arrive in the second half of 2027. With the Mahindra XEV 9S in its sight, the  is estimated to be priced between Rs 22.50 lakh – Rs 30 lakh. While its official powertrain specifications are yet to be announced, it’s expected to share the 65kWh and 75kWh battery packs with the Harrier EV. The dual-motor, AWD configuration will be exclusively offered in higher trims. The Safari EV is expected to deliver a range of over 500km.

The Tata Safari EV will feature several EV-specific changes inside and out, while retaining the overall design and cabin layout of its ICE counterpart.

Tata Scarlet

Tata Scarlet Compact SUV

Codenamed Scarlet, the  rugged SUV is likely to feature a boxy stance with several design cues derived from the Sierra. According to reports, it will could be designed on a monocoque chassis capable of supporting ICE (internal combustion engine) and electric powertrains. Tata is likely to offer either the Nexon’s 120bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol, or an all-new naturally aspirated 1.5L petrol engines for the Scarlet.

The Tata Scarlet is expected to be priced competitive against the upcoming Mahindra Vision S and Renault Bridger. However, it’s prices might overlap with the Nexon and Nexon EV.
