Actress ,who kicked off filming Season 2 of Amazon Prime Video’s hit hockey romance Off Campus earlier this week, has parted ways from her fiance, actor Jake Short. The couple had been together since 2021 and got engaged after four years of dating. A representative for the breakout star issued a statement about the couple’s separation. Abdalla’s representative told Us Weekly, “Due to recent interest in Mika’s personal life it would feel remiss to not address that her and Jake are no longer together.” The statement also said that Abdalla and Short would continue to support each other and remain on friendly terms. They asked for privacy and respect during their separation.

Short and Abdalla met while on the Hulu film Sex Appeal in 2021. Directed by Talia Osteen, the teen comedy featured Abdalla as student Avery Hansen-White, who begins to study the mechanics of love in order to impress her long-distance boyfriend. Short plays her love interest Larson. Fortune Feimster, Paris Jackson and Margaret Cho were also part of Osteen’s directorial debut.
The couple got engaged after four years of dating; their engagement was confirmed by Short’s manager Brian Medavoy. Prior to Off Campus, the 26-year-old actress had also worked on known series such as Suits: LA and The Pitt.
Who is Jake Short?
The 29-year-old American actor’s first big role came with the Disney Channel series A.N.T. Farm where he played the lead role of Fletcher Quimby. He went on to star in the series Mighty Med, Lab Rats: Elite Force, All Night and The First Team. Short has also starred in the films This is the Year and Supercool.
