Veteran actor Anupam Kher has reacted to a video from Ladakh that he said left him deeply disturbed, after a woman identifying herself as Gen Z was allegedly seen speaking disrespectfully to Army personnel.
Kher, known for films including A Wednesday and Special 26, shared his reaction on Instagram while posting the patriotic song “Sena Ki Jai” from his directorial film Tanvi The Great. He said the song had been shared with him by several defence personnel and Army officers, who described it as a “Gen Z song for the real Gen Z of Bharat”.
Kher said watching the Ladakh video prompted him to share the song from a different perspective on what being part of Gen Z could represent.
“Yesterday, I saw a video of lady in Ladakh, calling herself Gen Z, speaking very disrespectfully to our Army personnel. It disturbed me deeply,” Kher said in his post.
He added that being Gen Z was not merely about attitude, but also about “courage, discipline, service and respect”.
The actor concluded his message with, “May the Indian Army be victorious! Jai Hind!”
Kher also shared a video featuring singer Shubhangi Dutt performing the patriotic track “Sena Ki Jai”.
A video circulating on social media reportedly shows a woman confronting security personnel after allegedly being stopped at a barricade in Minamarg. In the clip, she questions restrictions imposed on tourists and compares them with the situation faced by people in Kashmir.
The woman is also heard identifying herself as part of Gen Z and saying, “We are Gen Z, we’ll not tolerate this nonsense.” The video has since gone viral and triggered mixed reactions on social media.
Kher’s comments come as Tanvi The Great, which he directed, continues to draw attention for its patriotic themes and its focus on the armed forces.
