Story of Maa Chandraghanta on the third day of Navratri
According to the legend of Maa Chandraghanta on the third day of Navratri, a powerful demon named Mahishasura started creating terror in heaven and wanted to establish his suzerainty on the three worlds. All the gods were worried about the increasing terror of Mahishasura and asked for help from Tridev i.e. Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.
Hearing the agony of the gods, Tridev became very angry and a divine energy was revealed by his anger. With this energy, the Chandraghanta Swaroop of Maa Durga was born, whose head has an hour -shaped semi -focus. For this reason, he was named Chandraghanta.
Lord Shiva gave his Trishul Lord Vishnu his chakra and Devraj Indra gave his hour to Mother Chandraghanta. After this, all other gods also gave their weapons to the mother. Then mother Chandraghanta came to fight with Mahishasura and the mother killed Mahishasura with her weapons, which gave the gods freedom from her terror.
