Harsh Tyagi’s Double Impact Steals the Show in Outer Delhi Warriors’ Win

Harsh Tyagi’s contribution with both bat and ball proved important as Outer Delhi Warriors secured a 21-run win over Purani Dilli 6 in a high-scoring Delhi Premier League 2026 contest.

But beyond the result, the game highlighted Tyagi’s growing importance as a genuine bowling all-rounder for the Warriors, with the left-hander making an impact in the late stages of both innings.

Harsh Tyagi backs his all-rounder identity

Tyagi walked in with just six overs remaining and a clear objective: help Outer Delhi Warriors push towards 200.

He responded with 32 off 15 balls, providing the late-innings acceleration needed after Yajas Sharma’s 86 off 36 balls had put the Warriors in a strong position.

Tyagi said he gives equal importance to both aspects of his game and sees himself primarily as a bowling all-rounder.

“I give equal importance to both my batting and bowling. I see myself as a bowling all-rounder who can bowl a full quota of overs and also contribute down the order with a good strike rate,” he said.

That role was particularly evident against Purani Dilli 6, with Tyagi contributing 32 runs before returning to the attack during the chase.

Tyagi’s late-innings bowling plan

His bowling numbers did not tell the whole story of his contribution.

Tyagi admitted that he had a difficult start, but said his focus was on controlling the scoring rate during the final two overs.

“During those slog overs, I knew I could concede some runs, but I was confident in my preparation,” he said.

The all-rounder credited his work on yorkers and slower deliveries during the year for helping him execute his plans when the pressure increased.

“I have worked a lot on my yorkers and slower balls throughout the year in Delhi to keep batters guessing,” Tyagi added.

Outer Delhi Warriors post 219

The Warriors’ batting effort gave their bowlers a substantial total to defend.

Yajas Sharma led the charge with 86 from 36 balls after sharing a 120-run opening partnership with Priyansh Arya, who made 30 off 21.

Tyagi then provided another burst of acceleration with his 32 off 15, while Akshay Saini finished unbeaten on 49 from 23 balls.

Outer Delhi Warriors eventually reached 219/5 in their 20 overs.

Digvesh Rathi was Purani Dilli 6’s standout bowler, taking 3/25 from his four overs.

Purani Dilli 6 threaten before Warriors fight back

The chase initially appeared to be going Purani Dilli 6’s way.

Aryan Gaur and Samarth Seth put together 104 for the opening wicket, with Gaur scoring 65 from 37 balls and Seth adding 42 from 24.

The momentum shifted when Aman Chaudhary struck three times in his first three overs.

Those wickets slowed Purani Dilli 6’s scoring and put the required run rate under increasing pressure.

Lalit Yadav and Ashwini Chillar attempted to rebuild, but the chase had moved beyond their control by the final over.

Purani Dilli 6 needed 41 runs from the last six deliveries and ultimately finished 21 runs short.

Why Tyagi’s role matters for Outer Delhi Warriors

The biggest takeaway from Tyagi’s performance was not simply his 32 runs. It was his ability to contribute in the role he has identified for himself.

With the Warriors capable of producing big totals through their top order, an all-rounder who can accelerate in the final overs and provide four overs of bowling gives the side additional flexibility.

Against Purani Dilli 6, Tyagi’s contribution came at precisely those pressure points – first helping take the Warriors beyond 200 before attempting to contain the chase at the other end.

For Tyagi, that balance between batting impact and bowling responsibility appears to be central to how he wants to establish himself in the DPL.
