New Delhi, Aug 19: Bayern Munich’s midfielder Jamal Musiala has disclosed that he has been diagnosed with a manageable neurological condition that leads to temporary absence seizures, following two collapses during matches within a span of four days.
Concerns arose during a friendly match against Leipzig when Musiala unexpectedly fell to the ground without any apparent contact. He experienced another collapse shortly after being substituted into Bayern’s 3-1 victory over RB Leipzig on Sunday, requiring assistance from medical staff to leave the field.
Later that day, Musiala took to Instagram to calm the worries of Bayern fans and provide insight into his situation.
“First and foremost, I am okay,” he stated. “I truly appreciate all your messages and support. I know many of you are concerned, and I want to clarify the situation.”
“I have been diagnosed with short and temporary absence seizures, which are easily treatable and stem from a neurological disorder. This condition has led to the recent incidents, including those against Leipzig and Heidenheim,” he elaborated.
Musiala reassured fans, saying, “While it may seem alarming at first, it has become a part of my daily routine. I am receiving excellent medical care and remain optimistic about my recovery.”
The 22-year-old emphasized that his condition does not pose any additional health risks and that he has received unwavering support from the club.
“The key point is that there are no health risks beyond this. I am working closely with specialists and have chosen to confront this challenge. With the guidance of neurological experts, I am focusing on what aids my recovery: living my daily life and pursuing my passion for football. I am taking responsibility for my health and feel I am on the right path,” he mentioned.
Having made 231 appearances for Bayern, Musiala previously faced a six-month absence last season due to an ankle fracture sustained at the Club Cup. He successfully returned to play later in the season and represented Germany at the 2026 World Cup.
Bayern Munich is set to compete against Borussia Dortmund in the German Super Cup next Saturday, followed by their Bundesliga opener at home against Stuttgart on August 28.
