Awarapan 2 vs Batwara 1947 Box Office 1st Monday Collection: The Indian box office witnessed an interesting box office clash lately wherein two of the most anticipated movies locked horns despite different genres.
We are talking about Emraan Hashmi led Awarapan 2 and Sunny Deol starrer Batwara 1947. To note, while Awarapan 2 is the long awaited sequel to the 2007 release Awarapan, Batwara 1947 is a period drama set against the backdrop of the 1947 partition between India and Pakistan.
Interestingly, this is the second time Sunny and Emraan have locked horns at the box office. Earlier, it happened in 2007 wherein in Sunny’s Apne had crushed Emraan’s Awarapan. However, 19 years, Emraan has undoubtedly turned the tables as Batwara 1947, despite having a patriotic vibe and a stellar cast of Sunny, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol and Ali Fazal, has been struggling to survive amid Awarapan 2’s massive buzz. On the other hand, after witnessing a good push during the Independence day weekend, both the movies were seen having a massive dip in numbers on the first Monday.

According to a report published in Sacnilk, Batwara 1947, which had earned Rs 7.25cr on day 3, saw a dip of over 72% in numbers and failed to earn even Rs 5cr on day 4 (first Monday). In fact, it earned just Rs 2cr on day 4 which took the overall collection to Rs 28.5cr nett while the gross collection turned out to be Rs 33.95cr after 4 days of release

On the other hand, Awarapan 2 saw a drop of 64.4% in numbers and earned Rs 9.25cr on day 4, taking the overall collection to Rs 91cr and total gross collection to Rs 109.02cr
Awarapan 2 vs Batwara 1947 Box Office Monday Collection Verdict
It is evident that Awarapan 2 has managed to crush Batwara 1947 with a huge gap on the first Monday and Emraan’s movie has earned over 362% more than Sunny’s film. It will be interesting to see if Batwara 1947 will be able to pick up pace before wrapping up the first week at the box office.
