‘Toota Hai Gabba Ka Ghamand’: Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara and Vivek Razdan Relive Historic Gabba Triumph

The fourth Test match during India’s memorable tour of Australia, a team that Bangladesh just beat at the opening test at Darwin, was a rather significant moment for tons of India’s cricket fans as also the history of the illustrious team.

Under the able and wise captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane, who was really a makeshift captain on that tour with the injured Virat Kohli out recuperating, Team India won the emphatic test by 3 wickets whilst sporting what could easily be called a considerably younger looking side. There being no Bumrah, no Kohli or Shami, it wasn’t always expected to go India’s way.

But then thanks to oodles courage and true character, ever the requirement of international Test cricket for excellence, Team India prevailed. Showing temerity wit the bat was, especially Cheteshwar Pujara who in his 56 off 211 during India’s fourth inning run chase took body blows, one too many, literally speaking and captain Rahane’s quick fire 24 starred in a vital cause that would eventually script history for India.

Now commentating half a decade ago during that time in that important game was noted Hindi commentator Vivek Razdan, who recently, was seen enjoying glimpses of that Test match on Sony TV LiV while being in company of the two very important figures or contributors from that very game- Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane!

A different kind of watch along- or recapturing of the mega game

While usually when you gather a cricket loving pack and prepare to watch live proceedings, even though that may not be at the very venue where the game is being played, the exercise is called ‘watch along!’

This, however, could be termed a nostalgic watch along. The trio of Rahane, Pujara and commentator Razdan were rejoicing and recollecting the vivid memories of that insanely brilliant contest whilst being in Sri Lanka, where they are present in their current capacity as cricket experts observing the ongoing Sri Lanka tour of India, the first game currently on Day 3 at Galle.

And that’s not all!

Capturing the sheer niceness and joy of the moment was noted cricket journalist Mr Vimal Kumar, who rightly mentioned that we are the presence of 3 interesting and important characters from that time- the voice behind ‘Toota hai Gabba ka Ghamand (Vivek Razdan), and the two former Indian test cricketers who are as respected as they are liked.
