While addressing party workers and leaders, BJP state president Ravindra Chavan has issued a clear message. “We have lagged significantly on social media.
We need to communicate the government’s work to the public as much as possible through social media,” Chavan said.
He also urged party workers to increase their social media activity and strengthen direct contact with citizens. Chavan also set a target of registering at least 50,000 new voters from the approximately 1.2 million educated graduate voters in Nagpur and Wardha districts. He stated that the upcoming Nagpur Graduate Constituency elections are approximately four months away, and in view of this, the organization must be active at the booth level from now on.
Key officials, councilors, and leaders from Nagpur City, Nagpur Rural, and Wardha were present at the meeting held at the banquet hall of Nagpur Airport. At the outset, Ravindra Chavan asked the workers a direct question: “Do we want to win this election or not?” He then raised questions about the workers’ activism on digital platforms. He stated clearly that the BJP is lagging behind in the field of social media and that serious work is needed to address this shortcoming. Chavan urged the workers to gather information on important decisions taken by the Prime Minister, Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, and State Ministers, as well as the government’s development work, and to prepare social media posts and designs based on that information.
The BJP State President said that individuals with excellent social media expertise should be identified within the organization. Their experience and suggestions should be used to launch a systematic digital campaign. He said that if party workers work in a planned manner in this direction, the results will be visible soon. He also urged corporators, booth chiefs, Shakti Kendra chiefs, and other key workers to increase direct communication with the public.
Ravindra Chavan said that political parties and opposition forces will present different agendas to the public. In such a situation, BJP workers will have to decide how to respond to public questions. He stated that the BJP’s politics is not solely about gaining power, but rather about working for the national interest. He stated that the party’s core agenda, from Atal Bihari Vajpayee to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been national interest and development.
Chavan told workers that information about development in Maharashtra, electricity, industry, GST, the drought situation, and changes in various government schemes should be communicated to the public. He said that it is important to highlight the work done towards implementing schemes that were previously only mentioned on paper. Referring to initiatives like “One Nation, One Grid,” he said that people should be informed about changes in the power system and efforts to increase availability. Similarly, party workers should convey their views to the public with facts on issues like changes in the industrial sector and GST.
Ravindra Chavan said that it is important to convey the purpose and significance of any event to the public. Citing the example of the Tiranga Rally, he said that simply holding a rally is not enough; the spirit and national significance behind it must also be conveyed to the people. Referring to India’s growing global reputation, he said that the country’s growing strength and influence internationally should also be highlighted. He also stressed the need to inform citizens about Maharashtra’s role in the goal of a developed India by 2047 and the state government’s direction.
The BJP suffered its first defeat in the last election in the Nagpur Graduate constituency. Against this backdrop, the party has already begun organizational preparations for the upcoming elections. During his tour of eastern Vidarbha, Ravindra Chavan held six meetings over two days, with the final meeting held in Nagpur.
