Fenway Sports Group (FSG) has revealed that a consortium, spearheaded by Amit Bhatia and including Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, has acquired a minority stake in Liverpool Football Club.
This strategic investment from 1892 Holdings aims to foster the club’s long-term development both on and off the field.
Composition of the Consortium
The investment group boasts support from the Mittal Family Trusts and K5 Sports. Amit Bhatia leads the consortium, with Bezos participating as the primary investor in the K5 Sports Fund. Additionally, EE Capital, the family office of Elaine and Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin, has also made a significant contribution to this strategic investment, as reported by various sources. This investment brings together experts from global business, technology, and finance.
FSG Maintains Control
Despite this new influx of investment, the club’s ownership structure will remain largely unchanged, with FSG retaining majority control and operational authority. The new investors will work closely with FSG and the current leadership team to explore new opportunities that align with the club’s goals.
