At a time where it’s entirely uncommon and quite an everyday story to see cricketers and talents from all parts of the country to form central headlines or leading headlines in media for their talents, just what does it take for a non cricketer but a team owner, in fact, to make the cut?
In other words, to form the very headlines that are dominates by great talents in this notable sport?
Perhaps the answer to that is a zeal for cricket, a talent to excel as an owner of a cricket unit and besides oodles of business acumen, an enterprising spirit. In essence, the very qualities that one gets to see in famed franchise leagues such as the Indian Premier League where popular outfits such as the Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders are often a leading headline story. Isn’t it?
But can it ever be that when one speaks of
popular or noted IPL outfits such as these one doesn’t speak of or take a moment to highlight the force that’s driving the Orange Army aka the Sunrisers Hyderabad? Perhaps it simply won’t make much sense, isn’t it?
In their current annals of success- and forget not the fact that the Sunrisers Hyderabad made it to the final four stage of the 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League- the Hyderabad outfit have become a force to reckon with. But what about the person who’s assembled the gregarious and amazingly talented lot such as captain Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, among the others; the one whose face is seen many a time by the rolling camera in and around the ground but perhaps not sufficiently covered in terms of the sheer talent and skill of organisation she brings?
Truth be told, today Kaviya Maran, team owner of the SRH camp is just as important is a certain Pat Cummins, a name that needs no introduction. As a matter of fact, true to her long standing ambition of expanding the envelope of enterprise of SRH, that besides the IPL were also seen at the SA T20, the Hyderabad cricketing outfit have also recently fielded an interesting team in The Hundred, which happens to be England’s leading franchise format for the sport.
And just arresting the fact that Kaviya Maran brings to the sport in her capacity as the team owner of the Sunrisers Leeds as currently seen in the women’s edition of The Hundred was Aussie batter Phoebe Litchfield, who’s part of a team that’s going to play the eliminator.
Here’s what the talented and extremely dangerous batswoman had to say about the talented left handed Aussie:
‘ Kaviya’s great, very passionate, very happy that we finally got a women’s side, always had a soft spot for women’s cricket, It’s cool to have that connection & it is nice when the owner really cares, you can tell that she does”.
