‘We were more like her bouncers’: Yash recalls protecting pregnant Kiara Advani on Toxic sets, calls her ‘true professional’

Yash and Kiara Advani’s on-screen chemistry has been one of the biggest talking points around Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups. However, beyond their intense pairing, the actors also share a strong professional equation. At the film’s music launch in Mumbai on August 13, Yash opened up about Kiara’s dedication to the project and revealed how concerned he and director Geetu Mohandas were while she was shooting during her pregnancy.

The Kannada superstar said the film’s demanding script initially made him worry about Kiara. He also recalled a light-hearted conversation about a rain sequence and joked that he and Geetu ended up acting like her “bouncers and bodyguards” on the sets.

Yash Praises Kiara Advani’s Professionalism

During the event, Yash was asked about his experience of working with his Toxic co-stars, including Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi and Kiara Advani. He had particularly warm words for Kiara, praising her professionalism and commitment to the film.

Yash said, “She’s such a professional actor. When she came in to this film, I was a little worried because it’s too demanding.” The actor explained that the physical and emotional demands of the project made him concerned about whether Kiara would be comfortable with the filming schedule.

Yash Recalls Kiara’s First Rain Sequence

Yash also shared an amusing anecdote from the early stages of their collaboration. While going through the script, he asked Kiara whether she had ever shot a rain sequence. When Kiara told him that she had not, Yash was surprised. He joked that despite her years of experience in the industry, she had never filmed such a sequence.

Kiara then asked Yash what shooting a rain sequence involved. The KGF star admitted that he did not exactly give her the full picture at the time and jokingly told her that it would be easy. The story offered a glimpse into the friendly equation the two actors developed while working on the film.

‘We Were More Like Her Bouncers and Bodyguards’

Yash went on to praise Kiara for continuing to give her best to the project while she was pregnant. He revealed that both he and Geetu Mohandas were particularly concerned about her safety during the shoot.

He added, “I saw her, the way she dedicated herself. I must say, even after she was carrying, she came with 100% commitment. We were all so scared. She was dedicated and committed. I was more worried. Geethu was more worried. We were more like her bouncers and bodyguards. We used to take care of her, but she has really dedicared herself. So, thank you, Kiara. This one is special.”

Yash’s comments highlighted the level of commitment he believes Kiara brought to the film, while also showing the concern shared by the team during the demanding shoot.

Kiara Advani Embraced Motherhood Last Year

Kiara and her husband, actor Sidharth Malhotra, welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Saraayah Malhotra, in July last year. Kiara had continued working on Toxic during her pregnancy, making her dedication to the project a major talking point among the film’s cast and crew.

When will Toxic release?

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on August 26 after facing multiple delays. The film has received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and reportedly has a runtime of 3 hours and 14 minutes.

Produced in part by Yash, the film is set against the backdrop of post-Independence Goa and follows a gangster caught in a world of violence, power and shifting loyalties.

With Yash and Kiara at the centre of the story, their chemistry has already generated considerable interest, while Yash’s latest comments have offered a glimpse into the professional bond they formed behind the scenes.
