Nearly two decades after the original film achieved cult status, Awarapan 2 is bringing back actor Emraan Hashmi in his iconic role as Shivam Pandit. Amid the growing excitement around the sequel, an old social media post by writer Bilal Siddiqi has gone viral online, illustrating what fans are calling a classic case of manifestation.
‘Awarapan 2’ Writer Bilal Siddiqi’s 2017 Post Goes Viral
Long before he was officially brought on board as the screenwriter for Awarapan 2, Bilal Siddiqi was an ardent admirer of the 2007 original film. Back in June 2017, Siddiqi took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his appreciation for the action-drama, declaring Awarapan as his favourite Emraan Hashmi film.
Nearly nine years later, Siddiqi reshared that exact post after being signed as the writer for the sequel. Highlighting the unexpected full-circle moment, he wrote, “Had posted this back in 2017. And now I’m part of the sequel. Manifestation, I guess.”
The post quickly circulated across social media platforms, with fans pointing out his remarkable journey from being a school student captivated by Hashmi’s performance to officially writing the next chapter of the character’s story.

More About ‘Awarapan 2’
Produced by Vishesh Bhatt and directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 serves as a direct continuation of Mohit Suri’s 2007 cult classic. The sequel picks up with the revelation that Shivam survived the climax shootout from the original film and is still navigating intense grief following the death of his love interest, Aaliyah.
According to Siddiqi, the creative team, which included Bhatt, Hashmi, and Kakkar, spent months developing a storyline that organically expands on Shivam’s emotional arc. Rather than relying on nostalgia, the film retains the original’s core themes of angst, redemption, action, love, and devotion while taking the protagonist through a new narrative battle. Awarapan 2 is scheduled for nationwide theatrical release on August 14, 2026
