Despite facing stiff competition from holdover release Main Vaapas Aaunga and Welcome To Jungle, which arrived a week later, Cocktail 2 continued to bring in moolah and went on to cross the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office. It proved to be a box office success, bringing respite for Shahid Kapoor, who has had a rough couple of years. For Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna, Cocktail 2 added to their streak of successful films in recent times.
In Cocktail 2, Shahid plays Kunal, while Kriti and Rashmika play Ally and Diya respectively. It explores the themes of friendship and romance through these three characters. The film is written by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain, and received an A certificate from the CBFC. Shahid and Kriti earlier worked together in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya.
