The battle of bookings between Emraan Hashmi’s Awarpan 2 and Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947 seems to have tilted in favour of Hashmi’s romantic action drama ahead of their theatrical release. While both films are targeting audiences with very different stories and genres, Awarapan 2 has established a significant lead in first-day advance bookings, signalling stronger early interest among moviegoers.
As per tracking website Sacnilk, has recorded a first-day advance booking gross of Rs 3.22 crore without block seats, while the figure rises to Rs 5.4 crore when block seats are included. The film has sold 1,00,893 tickets across 5,833 shows, giving it a substantial lead in ticket sales over Batwara 1947. In comparison, Sunny Deol’s has registered a first-day advance booking gross of Rs 81.39 lakh without block seats. Including block seats, its advance gross currently stands at Rs 2.46 crore. The film has sold 29,261 tickets across 5,672 shows.

When the non-blocked figures are considered, Awarapan 2 accounts for nearly 80 per cent of the combined advance booking gross of the two films. Batwara 1947, meanwhile, contributes around 20 per cent. The difference becomes narrower when block seats are included, with Awarapan 2 accounting for approximately 69 per cent of the combined gross compared with around 31 per cent for Batwara 1947.
The ticket sales further underline the gap between the two releases. The romantic-action saga, Awarapan 2 has already crossed the one-lakh mark in advance ticket sales, selling 1,00,893 tickets. Batwara 1947, despite having a comparable number of shows, has sold less than a third of that figure at 29,261 tickets. Interestingly, the difference in show count is relatively small, with Awarapan 2 playing across 5,833 shows and Batwara 1947 across 5,672 shows.
Of this, for ‘s Awarapan 2, Delhi NCR has constituted Rs 1.1 crore gross earnings with blocks seats, which constitutes to 12 per cent of advance bookings, while Mumbai see Rs 66.27 lakh in gross earnings which is about 8 per cent of real occupancy in advance bookings. Similarly, when it comes to Batwara 1947, the Deol starrer has sold Rs 59.16 lakh worth tickets in Delhi NCR (including block bookings), followed by Rs 28.41 lakh sale in tickets at Mumbai.

It seems Awarapan 2 is enjoying considerably stronger audience anticipation at the booking window. The film also benefits from the nostalgia surrounding the original Awarapan, which starred Emraan Hashmi and became one of the actor’s most remembered films.
Headlined by Sunny Deol, Batwara 1947 also features Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi and Ali Fazal in key roles. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan, the film is based on Asghar Wajahat’s acclaimed play Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai. Meanwhile, Awarapan 2, produced by Vishesh Bhatt, stars Emraan Hashmi alongside Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi in pivotal roles.
