A Bhopal district court on Tuesday granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) six more days to file its final report in the death case of actor and model Twisha Sharma, setting August 17 as the fresh deadline.
The court passed the order while hearing the investigating agency’s application seeking further judicial remand. The matter had been listed for submission of the CBI’s final report, but the agency did not file it before the court.
Advocate Ankur Pandey said the court has now allowed the CBI time until August 17 to submit its final report. The report will place the outcome of the investigation before the Magistrate, following which the court will consider the findings and determine the further course of proceedings in accordance with law.
Tuesday’s hearing also saw a change in the legal representation of accused Giribala Singh. The counsel representing her through legal aid declined to appear during the proceedings, following which a private lawyer filed a fresh memo of appearance on her behalf.
Twisha Sharma’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, attended the hearing along with his counsel.
The case concerns the death of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma, who was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12, 2026, around five months after her marriage to advocate Samarth Singh.
The investigation was initially conducted by state agencies before being transferred to the CBI. Samarth Singh was arrested in connection with the case. His mother, retired judge Giribala Singh, was arrested by the CBI on May 28 after the Madhya Pradesh High Court quashed the anticipatory bail previously granted to her.
