Looks like promoting his upcoming release, Awarapan 2, hasn’t kept Emraan Hashmi away from the latest happenings in Bollywood! A couple of days ago, it was reported that the actor had joined the cast of director Neeraj Pandey’s upcoming film, a biopic on legendary music composer RD Burman. Reports suggested that Emraan would play the role of Mehmood in the Farhan Akhtar production venture. While the reports got many fans excited and set social media abuzz, it turned out to be short-lived as Emraan clarified the buzz.

Emraan Hashmi clarifies…
Hours after reports claimed that Emraan Hashmi had been cast in the film, he rubbished them and revealed that he had not even been approached for the project. In a post on social media, the actor clarified that he was not doing the role.
“Just to clarify, the report about me playing Mehmood saab in a biopic is untrue. I haven’t been approached for the film, nor am I doing it,” he clarified, setting the record straight.
Farhan Akhtar, who is also bankrolling the film, will play Burman in the project. According to reports, the biopic chronicles Mehmood’s close friendship and creative association with the legendary composer. In fact, it was Mehmood who gave Burman his big break in the film industry.
Akshay to reprise Rajesh Khanna?
The casting process for RD Burman’s biopic is only getting more exciting with time! The latest buzz suggests that Akshay Kumar is set to essay the role of superstar and his father-in-law Rajesh Khanna in the biopic.
According to reports, the filmmakers want to recreate the emotional and iconic bond between Rajesh Khanna and RD Burman on screen. They believe that Akshay would fit the part aptly, given his body language and charming appeal. The actor’s close connection with the Khanna family, he is married to Twinkle Khanna, the daughter of Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, also makes him a natural choice to reprise the role. It’ll be interesting to see how the casting develops.
