Samantha Ruth Prabhu Recalls Feeling Myositis Battle Would Make ‘People Think Twice Before Casting Me’

Samantha Ruth Prabhu may be battling the rare autoimmune condition myositis, but she’s only suffering from success. The actress-turned-producer first revealed her health diagnosis in October 2022. After taking a short break to focus on her well-being, she proved her critics wrong with back-to-back projects. After Citadel: Honey Bunny, Kushi and more, she recently starred in the action comedy Maa Inti Bangaram and left everyone impressed. The movie, backed by her husband Raj Nidimoru, became a sleeper hit after positive reviews. While the soon-to-be-mother has proved that nothing can hold her back, she had her own inhibitions and fears a few years ago.

In a recent interview,   said that she initially worried her health might make people think twice before approaching her for work.

She told ETimes, “Initially, would wonder if my health would make people think twice before casting me. But now I feel self-sufficient with everything that I’m doing. My plate is full with the things I’m creating on my own.”

The Theri actress, who launched her production house with the Telugu horror-comedy Subham, added that producing films allows her to remain in the industry and pursue the things she loves, even when she is not in front of the camera.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu Wants To Do More Action Films

Sam, who won praise for The Family Man and Citadel: Honey Bunny, now wants to explore the action genre further. She recalled being pleasantly surprised by the audience’s response to her action scenes in the popular Raj and DK show and noted that it is not easy for audiences to accept a petite woman performing action sequences. She said that she wants to build on that response. Samantha added, “I enjoy getting my hands dirty and getting punched in the face — not in real life! Doing such a role feels challenging and intoxicating.”

On the personal front, the actress is expecting her first child with husband Raj Nidimoru and is expected to take a maternity break. She revealed the same during the  . She told her fans, “Sorry guys, one more small gap and then I will be back. Actually, I have to take maternity leave now, but I am very, very happy to…”

Currently, she has Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom, Maduravada and Hollywood debut film Arrangements of Love in the kitty.
