Farhan Akhtar’s upcoming biopic on legendary music composer RD Burman has added an intriguing new name to its cast. Akshay Kumar has reportedly come on board to portray superstar Rajesh Khanna in the much-awaited project. The casting brings an interesting real-life connection to the screen, as Khanna was Akshay’s father-in-law through his marriage to Twinkle Khanna. The film, directed by Neeraj Pandey and produced by Excel Entertainment, is expected to feature several prominent personalities from the era and will reportedly go on floors in October 2026.

As per that report, the actor agreed to join the project soon after hearing about the role.
