On Monday, Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury launched a scathing attack on supporters of the ruling party regarding significant national issues.
Displaying glasses adorned with a sticker reading ‘Modia Bind’, she claimed these were a medical remedy for political critics she labeled as blind devotees. While showcasing the glasses to the media, Chowdhury targeted the government’s shortcomings in administration and infrastructure. She emphasized that essential issues are being overlooked in the rush to offer uncritical praise.
In an interview, she remarked, ‘These glasses are for the treatment of those blind devotees… They fail to see issues like theft; they ignore the collapse of bridges; they overlook the NEET exam problems; they only offer praise. Therefore, I thought we should arrange for their proper treatment. If cataracts develop, we will treat that too.’ Earlier on the same day, amidst opposition uproar, four crucial bills were introduced in the Lok Sabha, including the Tribunal Reforms Bill, 2026; the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026; the Kerala (Name Change) Bill, 2026; and the National Cooperative Development Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
Subsequently, the proceedings of the house were adjourned until 2 PM as opposition MPs protested against police actions during student demonstrations at Jantar Mantar and demanded answers from the government regarding alleged embezzlement of donations for the Ram Temple. The Lok Sabha sessions during the monsoon session faced repeated interruptions, with six out of eight bills passed without any debate.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav launched a fierce attack on the central government regarding the ongoing deadlock in Parliament and demanded answers concerning alleged misappropriation of donations for the Ram Temple. Speaking to reporters, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh questioned the government about the amendments to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA). Yadav stated, ‘We ask the government why there was a lathi charge, why tear gas was used, and why electric shocks were administered? Now they are bringing the FCRA bill. While the Indian government and BJP assured us that money from India would not go abroad, countless individuals have sent large sums of money out of India through both official and unofficial channels… The truth is they want to seize control of institutions. They are looking for ways to control these institutions through the FCRA.’
