Info Edge Q1 Results: Profit falls 20% to Rs 246 crore as Rs 72-crore one-time loss weighs; Naukri revenue up 5%

Info Edge Q1FY27 Results: Info Edge Ltd reported a mixed set of numbers for the June quarter, with growth in revenue and operating profit failing to translate into higher net profit after the company took a Rs 72-crore one-time hit.

The Sanjeev Bikhchandani-led internet company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 246 crore for Q1FY27, down 20.4 per cent from Rs 309 crore in the previous quarter. The company said the decline in profit was impacted by the one-time loss recorded during the quarter.

Revenue from operations, on the other hand, moved up 2.4 per cent quarter-on-quarter to Rs 824 crore, compared with Rs 805 crore in Q4FY26.

The operating numbers were somewhat better. EBIT rose 3.4 per cent to Rs 334 crore from Rs 323 crore, while the EBIT margin improved to 40.5 per cent from 40.1 per cent in the preceding quarter.

That makes the June-quarter performance a little different from the headline profit number suggests. The core business delivered modest sequential growth, but the one-off charge pulled down the reported bottom line.

Naukri remains the key growth driver

Info Edge’s recruitment business continued to lead the company’s operating performance.

Revenue from the Naukri business rose 5 per cent quarter-on-quarter to Rs 612 crore in Q1FY27. Naukri.com is Info Edge’s flagship platform and remains the largest contributor to its business.

The sequential growth in the recruitment business comes against the backdrop of continued demand for hiring and recruitment services. For Info Edge, the pace of growth at Naukri remains an important indicator of the health of its core business.

The company will need to sustain that momentum in the coming quarters if it is to offset weakness elsewhere in its portfolio.

99acres sees revenue decline

The real estate classifieds business delivered a contrasting performance.

Revenue from 99acres fell 10 per cent sequentially to Rs 130 crore in Q1FY27. The decline in the business partly offset the growth reported by Naukri and kept overall revenue growth modest.

The divergent performance of the two businesses was one of the key features of Info Edge’s June-quarter numbers. While recruitment continued to add to the topline, the real estate business lost ground during the quarter.

One-time loss hits bottom line

The Rs 72-crore one-time loss was the biggest factor separating the company’s operating performance from its reported profit.

Without looking at the exceptional impact, the improvement in EBIT and margin suggests that the underlying business remained relatively stable during the quarter. EBIT increased from Rs 323 crore to Rs 334 crore, while the margin expanded by 40 basis points.

For investors, the distinction will be important going forward. The focus is likely to shift towards whether Info Edge can maintain the momentum in Naukri and bring 99acres back to growth, rather than just the reported decline in quarterly profit.
