The blockbuster action-comedy film ‘Jailer’ from South Indian cinema has marked its third anniversary since release. Actor Jackie Shroff, who played the villain in the film, celebrated this milestone.
Shroff shared several clips from the movie on his Instagram Stories, featuring the main cast alongside him. He wrote, “The film ‘Jailer’ has completed three years since its release.”
Released in 2023, the Tamil action-comedy was written and directed by Nelson Dilip Kumar, with Kalanidhi Maran of Sun Pictures as the producer. The film stars South cinema superstar Rajinikanth as the retired jailer ‘Tiger’ Muthuveil Pandian.
In a brief but impactful cameo, Jackie Shroff portrayed a character named ‘Kamadev,’ intricately linked to the past of Rajinikanth’s character.
Alongside Rajinikanth, the film featured Vinayakan (as villain Verma), Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Sunil, and Vasant Ravi in significant roles. Notably, Mohanlal (Matthew from Malayalam cinema) and Shiv Rajkumar (Narasimha from Kannada cinema) also made appearances. The film is renowned for its powerful action sequences, stylish presentation, and remarkable cameos, achieving historic box office success worldwide.
The plot centers around Muthuveil Pandian (Rajinikanth), a retired jailer living a simple life with his family. His son, an honest police officer, goes missing while exposing a dangerous gang involved in the smuggling of ancient idols. To protect his son and eliminate the threats, Muthuveil Pandian must revert to his fearsome ‘Tiger’ persona.
The film’s music, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, features hit songs and a popular background score. Viewers can watch the film on Amazon Prime Video in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.
