Jagran Correspondent, Ghaziabad: The effects of the traffic diversions implemented due to the Kanwar Yatra are visible across Ghaziabad on Monday morning.
Being the first working day of the week, the roads were crowded with vehicles, causing traffic jams at many places.
Long queues of vehicles are visible on several routes, including Lalkuan, GT Road, NH-9, Rajnagar Extension Elevated Road, Rajnagar Extension Main Road, Extension Square, and Shahberi Road. Due to the diversions, it is taking people more than twice as long to reach their destinations compared to normal days.
A distance that used to take about 15 minutes is now taking more than an hour. People leaving for work and other important tasks this morning faced traffic jams everywhere.
After the closure of vehicular movement on DME and the traffic being diverted towards NH-9 and Eastern Peripheral Expressway, the pressure of vehicles has increased on these routes also.
Meanwhile, diversions implemented on Meerut Road and within the city have also affected the GT Road and connecting roads to Rajnagar Extension. Officials said that with the increasing number of pilgrims, traffic arrangements are being adjusted as needed.
Modinagar: Dak Kanwad Take Over Kanwar Yatra Route
The Kanwar Yatra route will now be occupied by postal Kanwars. Most of the Kanwariyas travelling on foot are expected to reach their destinations by Monday afternoon. The return of Kanwariyas from Modinagar and Muradnagar has already begun.
Now, only postal processions are visible on the Kavad route. Shivaratri is on Tuesday. In view of this, the police administration has made complete preparations.
