Mohammed Siraj produced a stunning late cameo as India defeated Sri Lanka Cricket XI by six wickets in their three-day warm-up match in Colombo. West Indies miss automatic ODI World Cup qualification
Two-time champions West Indies have missed automatic qualification for the ICC ODI World Cup for the third successive cycle. Ex-Bengal coach arrested for molestation in Kolkata
Former Bengal women’s cricket coach Jayanta Ghosh Dastidar was arrested in Kolkata on August 6 after allegedly making an offensive gesture towards a woman and molesting her inside a crowded Metro. Fellow passengers reportedly intervened and handed him over to police. A court has remanded him to jail custody until August 17. Jayanta had previously faced molestation allegations from a female physiotherapist, following which CAB suspended him after an internal investigation.
Ahmedabad to host U18 Asia Basketball Cup
Ahmedabad will host the FIBA Under-18 Asia Basketball Cup from August 13 to 23, with three Gujarat natives playing key roles for India. Bhavnagar’s Ronaldo Hopkins has been selected in the U-18 squad, while Narendra Desai will serve as assistant coach and Dr Kunal Chudasama as lead physiotherapist.
