The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to approach the Indian government for approval for the white-ball tour of Bangladesh.
The series was in jeopardy after the relations between the BCCI and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) deteriorated following the T20 World Cup controversy, after the Muhammad Yunus-led Bangladesh government refused to send its team to India citing security concerns. But the recent geopolitical developments have renewed hopes that the series might go ahead.
According to BCCI sources, the Indian Cricket Board and are in constant communication over the white-ball series, where India are set to play three ODIs and as many T20Is.
“We are working on it and will seek permission and clarity as far as the Bangladesh tour is concerned. We can’t take any decision on our own at this stage. No decision has been taken yet, but we will soon approach the government,” said a source.
The BCB has kept a window from 29 August to 15 September for the proposed white-ball series against India; however, the final decision on the series will be taken by the government of India.

Meanwhile, the BCB is also leaving no stone unturned to convince India to play the white-ball series in Bangladesh. The series was initially planned in 2025, but was rescheduled due to security concerns in the country. BCB President Tamim Iqbal recently urged India to tour Bangladesh, saying that it is a very safe country to play. He told the reporters that he is trying his best to get India to play in Bangladesh, but admitted that the final decision rests with the BCCI and the Indian government.
“Bangladesh’s series against India, the excitement is at a different level, I’m sure from journalists, from fans, cricketers, everyone,” he said. “Bangladesh is an extremely safe country, and I am very hopeful that they will come. Whatever steps need to be taken from our side, we are trying. But one thing we all need to understand – I am the BCB president, and there is also a line that I should never cross. So from my position, whatever is possible to do within my responsibility, I am talking to people, I am trying to tell them what advantages there are with the India series and all those things.”
