Delhi Weather: After two days of intense showers, Delhiites have received some relief from the hot and humid weather conditions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the national capital on Sunday, forecasting light to moderate rains.
Cloudy conditions will also prevail during this time. Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram are also likely to witness similar weather conditions.
The recent downpour in the national capital resulted in the highest first week rainfall of August since 2011. As per the weather department, Delhi received 127mm rainfall between August 1-7, making this the wettest first week of Aug since 2011.
The city recorded a minimum temperature of 26.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday. Delhi received 5mm of rainfall till 8.30 am, according to IMD. The maximum temperature is expected to touch 34 degrees Celsius, the IMD stated. Relative humidity was recorded at 94 per cent at 8.30 am.
The air quality was recorded in the ”satisfactory” category at 9 am, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 89, according to the Sameer App. According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered ”good”, 51 to 100 ”satisfactory”, 101 to 200 ”moderate”, 201 to 300 ”poor”, 301 to 400 ”very poor”, and 401 to 500 ”severe”.
Delhi Weather Forecast For Coming Days
Delhi will be witnessing wet conditions in the coming week amid active weather systems. The city will see light to moderate rains accompanied by thunderstorms almost everyday likely leading to waterlogging and traffic congestion.
Amid heavy rains in Delhi, a youth was swept away in a drain in Priyanka Camp Ali village, located in South Delhi’s Madanpur Khadar. The incident was reported immediately to the authorities. While returning from Noida, 18-year-old Ankit, a resident of Bhim Colony, slipped and fell into an overflowed drain near Priyanka Camp and was swept away. A search operation for the man is ongoing.
