‘I’m not dead’: Actress Jewel Mary slams viral rumours about her health

Actress and television presenter Jewel Mary has responded to false reports circulating on social media claiming that she had lost her voice due to cancer and was in critical condition.

She clarified that while she was diagnosed with cancer in 2023, she has since recovered fully and is now in good health.

Jewel explained that the rumours stem from comments she made at a public event three years ago about her cancer diagnosis.

Those old remarks are now being shared with misleading captions, creating the impression that she is currently seriously ill.

In a video message, Jewel said, “I wanted to clarify something that has come to my attention over the last two days. I’m not dead, everyone! Some people have been spreading stories saying I’ve lost my voice, that I’m bedridden waiting for death, and that I can’t even move. But I’m very much alive.”

“In 2023, I spoke publicly about the cancer I had. Some online users have now taken those old statements and are sharing them with misleading captions, making it seem as though I’m in that condition today,” she added.

She noted that the misleading posts had caused concern among her family, friends and fans, many of whom had contacted her to check on her well-being.

Jewel Mary was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2023. Following surgery and treatment, she later revealed through social media that she had made a full recovery. She had previously shared that the cancer was detected during a routine medical check-up and that she chose to speak openly about her experience to offer hope and encouragement to others facing similar health challenges.
