Honda has been struggling in global markets, driven by intensifying competition from global automakers in China’s EV segment, import tariffs in the U.S. and shifting EV policies in North America. The scenario is no different for the Indian market, where the Japanese automaker faces increasing competition across segments. Aiming to address these market-specific challenges, Honda has reportedly joined hands with Tata Technologies to develop a new vehicle platform for its future models.

The company will reportedly be responsible for developing a new, modular vehicle architecture that could potentially support multiple body styles and powertrains.

Future Honda Models Remain Unconfirmed
As of now, the specific Honda models which will be based on the new Tata-developed flexible platform cannot be confirmed. Earlier reports suggest that the upcoming Honda 7-seater SUV, a subcompact SUV and the next-generation City sedan could be based on the brand’s new PF2 (codename). The modular, hybrid-ready platform will be designed for small-and medium-size vehicles, and is claimed to be 90kg lighter than Honda’s existing hybrid platform.
It remains to be seen whether the new Tata Technologies-developed modular architecture will replace Honda’s PF2 platform for future models. However, there is currently no official word on the same.
