Strong hybrid sales in India are gradually picking up pace, with Toyota and Maruti Suzuki leading the segment. Over 1.23 lakh units of the hybrid vehicles were sold in FY2026, while 57,885 units were sold in the first half of 2026. Currently, there are eight strong hybrid models on sale in India, including the Toyota Innova Hycross, Maurti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki Victrois, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Maruti Suzuki Invicto, Honda City, Toyota Camry and Toyota Vellfire.

The Toyota Innova Hycross remained India’s top-selling strong hybrid vehicle, with total sales of 27,812 units in H1, 2026, accounting for a 48% market share. However, its YoY (Year-On-Year) sales declined by 6%. The second spot was secured by another Toyota model – the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The carmaker sold 18,577 units of the midsize SUV, giving it a 32% market share. It recorded a 23% YoY sales growth.
Interestingly, there is a significant sales gap of 14,491 units between the second and third top-selling strong hybrid vehicles. With total sales of 4,086 units, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara became India’s third best-selling hybrid car in H1, 2026. It accounted for a 7% of market share, while the SUV’s YoY sales declined by 54%.
The Maruti Victoris secured the fourth position with sales of 3,231 units in H1, 2026, posting 6% YoY growth. It’s one of the fastest selling Maruti Suzuki car, achieving the 1 lakh sales milestone within just eight months of its launch in September, 2025. The Victoris shares its powertrains, platform and features with the Grand Vitara, while being positioned below it in Maruti Suzuki’s lineup. A total of 1,418 units of the Maruti Invicto sold in the first half of this year, commanding 2% market share.
The sixth and seventh spots were grabbed by Toyota’s Camry sedan and Vellfire luxury MPV with sales of 1,188 units and 914 units, respectively. Both models currently account for a 2% market share. Meanwhile, Honda Cars India sold 659 units of the City e:HEV were sold in H1, 2026, recording 22% YoY sales growth.
