The strikes are a blow to Pakistani positions on Tiger Hill, allowing Indian Army soldiers to mount their final assault. Eventually, Tiger Hill is recaptured, a major turning point in the Kargil conflict.

How did India win the war against Pakistan?
The capture of Tiger Hill changes the course of the war dramatically. Indian forces are still regaining strategic positions in the Drass and Kargil sectors, putting more pressure on Pakistan. With the situation deteriorating, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has appealed for international assistance. The United States, however, does not agree with Pakistan and wants the conflict to end.
At last, Pakistan agreed to withdraw from Kargil. The decision practically ends the war and completes the Indian victory on the military field.

The Kargil War may have been an Indian victory, but Tony is still haunted by the guilt of having killed Ahuja. He feels he should have been with his fellow officer on his final mission.
Months later, Tony visits Madhavi, Ahuja’s wife, and apologises for not being able to save him. Madhavi tells Tony that the hard things she said after Ahuja died were because she was grieving and angry. She pleads with him to stop blaming himself, as “guilt will not honour Ahuja’s memory.”
