The Trinbago Knight Riders enter the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 as defending champions, aiming to secure their sixth title. The five-time winners have assembled a squad blending experienced players with emerging talent in all departments to mount a strong defence, according to a press release.
Captain Nicholas Pooran, who secured his first trophy as skipper last season, will lead a batting line-up featuring both exciting talent and seasoned players. The top order includes openers Alex Hales and Colin Munro, alongside wicketkeeper-batter Joshua Da Silva, Matthew Breetzke, and young batters Jyd Goolie and Dexter Sween. The middle order offers a robust combination of attacking options and experience to set a commanding tone.
Bowling remains a key strength for the Knight Riders. Akeal Hosein returns with confidence after a Player of the Match performance in the previous final, taking 2/26 and an unbeaten 16 off seven balls to seal the contest. He will be supported by Terrance Hinds, Abdul-Raheem Toppin, and Usman Tariq, providing a varied attack capable of controlling middle overs and applying pressure throughout.
All-rounders Sunil Narine and Kieron Pollard contribute further experience and depth. Narine is central to the team’s strategy, offering control with the ball and the ability to influence matches with the bat. Pollard, one of the most effective match-winners in the shortest format, aims to build on his previous campaign, where he was named Player of the Tournament. Along with the veterans, Amshi de Silva, Dominic Drakes, Nathan Edward, and Justin Greaves complete a well-rounded squad.
The Knight Riders will begin their title defence against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on August 9 at Arnos Vale Stadium in St Vincent, which is hosting its first CPL match.
