The action thriller film ‘Karma’ has reached a significant milestone, celebrating its 40th anniversary since its release. On this occasion, lead actor Jackie Shroff took to social media to reminisce about his experiences related to the film.
Jackie Shroff shared clips from the movie on his Instagram Stories, featuring notable actors such as Dilip Kumar, Nutan, Anil Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Sridevi, Dara Singh, Tom Alter, and the film’s director, Subhash Ghai. He tagged the current cast and director, stating, “The film ‘Karma’ has completed 40 years since its release.”
Directed and produced by Subhash Ghai, ‘Karma’ premiered on August 8, 1986, and quickly became one of the biggest blockbusters of that year. The film was praised for its engaging storyline, powerful performances, and patriotic themes. Its songs, including “Dil Diya Hai Jaan Bhi Denge,” “Ae Watan Tere Liye,” “Na Jaiyo Pardes,” “Maine Rab Se Tujhe,” and “De Daru,” remain favorites among music lovers today.
At the time of its release, ‘Karma’ was one of the highest-grossing films, reaffirming the successful collaboration between Subhash Ghai and Dilip Kumar, following their hit film ‘Vidhaata’ (1982).
The plot centers around Vishwapratap Singh (Dilip Kumar), whose family is devastated by the ruthless terrorist Dr. Dang (Anupam Kher). After escaping from prison, Dr. Dang attempts to wreak havoc in the country. In response to the loss of his family and the need to protect the nation, Vishwapratap Singh embarks on a secret and dangerous mission with three dangerous prisoners (Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, and Naseeruddin Shah), with the condition that they will gain their freedom upon mission completion.
In addition to Dilip Kumar’s stellar performance, the film featured an impressive cast, including Nutan, Sridevi, Poonam Dhillon, Dara Singh, Anupam Kher, Tom Alter, Shakti Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, and Bina Banerjee in significant roles.
