The launch comes as Bajaj celebrates 25 years of the Pulsar brand. New 4-Valve Engine, More Performance

Powering the new Pulsar N160 S and N160 SS is a new 164.5 cc, single-cylinder, 4-valve SOHC engine that now features oil cooling and Electronic Throttle Body (ETB). It develops 18.5 PS at 9,500 rpm and 14.4 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm, making it around 2.5 PS more powerful than the existing 2-valve N160.

The outgoing engine continues with 16 PS and 14.65 Nm, while using a simpler air-cooled setup with mechanical throttle. Bajaj claims the new motorcycle accelerates from 0-60 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, making it the quickest in its segment. Despite the increase in performance, the motorcycle continues with a 5-speed gearbox.

Ride Modes, Traction Control And Crawl Tech

The biggest mechanical upgrade is the adoption of Electronic Throttle (ETB), allowing Bajaj to introduce electronic rider aids that were previously unavailable in this segment. Both N160 S and N160 SS get four riding modes – Road, Rain, Sport and Off-road. These alter throttle response depending on riding conditions.

Top variants also receive traction control, while Bajaj has introduced Crawl Technology that allows the motorcycle to move smoothly at very low speeds without requiring constant clutch operation in slow-moving traffic.

Feature updates differ between the two variants. The Pulsar N160 S comes with an LCD instrument console offering Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. The flagship Pulsar N160 SS upgrades to a 5-inch TFT display with Google Maps mirroring, claimed to be a first for a sports motorcycle in India. The top variant also supports Bluetooth + WiFi connectivity.

Dual-channel ABS remains available on higher variants, while entry variants continue with single-channel ABS. Bajaj is also offering drum brake and rear disc options depending on variant.
