Mithun Chakraborty has been hospitalised in Kolkata. The veteran actor is currently recovering following a minor surgery. West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari met the actor-turned-politician on Friday, as news about his health spread across the industry and his fandom. Adhikari shared a post about meeting Mithun Da at the private hospital on his social media handle, along with pictures with the superstar-politician. In the photos, one can see Chakraborty lying on the bed and recuperating. Adhikari also spoke to the medical team treating Chakraborty and inquired about his condition during his visit.

Adhikari tweeted details of his visit, posting pictures of his meeting with the veteran actor, who was resting in his hospital room following the medical procedure. The CM wrote on his Facebook profile, “Renowned film actor and one of the members of the Central Committee of BJP, Mithun Chakraborty, is admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata due to physical illness. I went to the hospital to meet him today. I spoke to him and took information about his physical condition. I pray to the merciful God for his speedy recovery.”

Adhikari later spoke to the media and revealed that Chakraborty underwent a minor surgery on Thursday night. According to IANS, the Chief Minister said, “He did not want publicity over the development. He is doing well. Will be released soon.” Adhikari added, “His identity is beyond just his political life. His contribution behind the beginning of a nationalist government in West Bengal is immense. A small operation was performed. He is doing well now.”
