Shilpa Shinde recalls Salman Khan’s support against ‘age shaming’ during ‘Lock Upp’ stint

Actress Shilpa Shinde has said she missed Bollywood superstar Salman Khan during her journey on the reality show Lock Upp, claiming that he would have taken a strong stand against what she described as “age shaming” and “work shaming” inside the show.

Speaking during a media interaction after the finale, Shilpa was asked if there was anyone she missed while staying inside the Lock Upp house.

“I have missed him (Salman Khan) at many places. Very frankly, many things were not shown in the telecast the way I was spoken to. And I am talking about Shivangi Joshi,” Shilpa said.

The actress alleged that she faced comments related to her age and professional career during her time on the show. She added that she remembered how Salman Khan used to address such issues while hosting Bigg Boss.

“Age shaming, work shaming… and I remembered that the way Salmanji used to stand for those things, I missed that here,” she said.

However, Shilpa clarified that she did not believe Lock Upp host Farah Khan was biased towards any contestant. She said the limited duration of the televised episodes did not always capture the complete picture of what happened inside the house.

“I could see that Farah ji likes me, there was no such partiality. But there is only one-hour telecast, while the show runs for 24 hours. So that was very insulting,” she added.

Questioning the impact of such behaviour on viewers, Shilpa said that contestants should be careful about the message they send to young audiences.

“After that, you say you are playing a very good game. So what message are you giving to today’s youth? That speaking rudely to someone and answering in this way is what makes a good game? I felt very bad about that,” she said.

Remembering Salman Khan’s approach towards contestants, Shilpa added, “I really missed him. No one can be like him. No one can.”

Shilpa and Salman share a long association from Bigg Boss 11, where the actress emerged as the winner under Salman’s hosting. During the season, Salman was frequently seen addressing conflicts among contestants and questioning their behaviour.

In Lock Upp Season 2, Shilpa finished as the fourth runner-up. The season concluded on August 5, with Shreya Kalra winning the trophy, Shivangi Joshi becoming the first runner-up, and Yogesh securing the second runner-up position.
