Actor Anupam Kher has contributed Rs 5 lakh to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support families affected by the devastating floods in the state.
The donation was made through RTGS directly to the official relief fund and is intended to assist ongoing rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts for those impacted by the natural disaster.
Kher’s contribution comes days after he appealed to people across the country to extend support to Assam as the state continues to grapple with widespread devastation caused by floods.
In a video shared on Instagram, the actor expressed anguish over the situation, saying the images of destruction had deeply saddened him.
“Friends, I am feeling deeply saddened after seeing the pictures of this devastating flood. It is difficult to put into words the scenes we are witnessing on television and social media. Some people have lost their families, while others have lost their homes. Many children and elderly people are being forced to sit under the open sky,” he said.
The actor also voiced concern over the plight of animals affected by the floods.
“What pains me the most is seeing helpless animals struggling amid this disaster. When nature shows its fierce side, we realise how powerless we can become. I felt this once again while witnessing the situation in Assam,” he said.
Kher urged citizens to contribute to relief efforts in whatever way possible, stressing that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference.
“It can bring hope to a child and give a mother the strength to believe that she is not alone. I am praying for the people of Assam and extending my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who is working tirelessly to help them,” he said.
Encouraging public participation, the actor added that the value of assistance lies not in its amount but in the intention behind it, and appealed to people to contribute to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund according to their capacity.
The fund is being utilised to support relief and rehabilitation measures for flood-affected families across the state.
